If so, Audio Graffiti can help you!
Whether you need sequencing for a simple arrangement, a backing track or a complex recording project, we don't mind doing the hackwork for you.
What's more, we pride ourselves on imparting as much "musicality" to the sequence as we can! MIDI has a reputation for sounding mechanical and unmusical. This is somewhat unfair; it's more a case of MIDI can sound bland and mechanical if no effort to make it sound like music. At Audio Graffiti, we do make the effort!
We can take your hand-written manuscript or score and convert it into a MIDI file. If you can't notate music yourself, we can transcribe your original music from CD or MP3 before we sequence it.
When we have finished sequencing your music, we will email you the MIDI file (or files) together with any working files used to create the sequence. We can also send you a CD containing these files if you prefer.
In some cases we will also include performance or technical notes (such as recommendations for using sound fonts or configuring your sequencing software).
How to Order
Ordering is as simple as sending us a copy
of your music, either by email or mail. We will provide you with a quote
for the cost of the job based on its size, note density and complexity.
We begin sequencing when you accept the quote and formalise your order. When the work is complete, we will notify you so you can pay the balance. We will then send you a demo as an MP3 or WAV file so you can get an idea of how it will sound. You will have the opportunity to make corrections or comments. When you are happy with the demo, we will produce the final version and send it to you.
Not everyone needs a polished MIDI sequence ready for integration into a recording project. Some just want something indicative to play for a rehearsal or in a classroom; some customers want it good enough to back them as they sing or play live, but don't need it to be too detailed.
You can tell use just how detailed you want your MIDI file. We can add in comprehensive performance variations, dynamics and "feel" or just leave the sequence in a "vanilla" state.
The three levels are "Standard", "Expressive" and "Professional", and the differences between these are given to the right.
Standard
With the "Standard" level of detail, we sequence your music pretty much how
you have written it.
Expressive
In addition to sequencing your music, we add expression to make the music
sound less mechanical—a common problem in sequenced music. And where possible,
we approach phrasing in a manner that incorporates the idiosyncrasies of the
instruments being mimicked.
This is best suited for the hobbyist who needs a good backing that doesn't need to sound "real".
Professional
You music is sequenced with performance variations, complex dynamics and expression.
This is the best choice when preparing a sequence for recording; we will work with you to get the "performance" you need for your project.
We use Cakewalk products such as Sonar 3 Producer to do the bulk of our sequencing.
Cakewalk products are widely respected; they give us a complete and sophisticated control over all sequencing tasks.
