They are very hard to find in Australia, but one of the best place to get them is from Colin at Guitar Planet. Colin is a Music Man specialist and knows these instruments inside and out. Maton is a wholly Australian-owned, family business making world class acoustic and electric guitars. The company has been making instruments for over 60 year. Maton acoustic guitars in particular are known for their stunning sound. Most standard models are made primarily from Australian timbers. Maton guitars are used by many of Australia's greatest musicians (Tommy Emmanuel, Neil Finn, John Butler, Smokin' Joe Robinson, Beeb Birtles, Lee Kernaghan and many others). Maton also offer a custom shop service: you are able to specify every detail of your new guitar from timber type to fingerboard inlays, and even select the actual pieces timber to be used. The guitar is then hand-made by Maton's brilliant head luthier, Andy Allen.

There are some great guitar manufacturers out there, but Ernie Ball Music Man guitars are as good as it gets when it comes to electric guitars. In terms of playability, they leave many other brands well behind. Music Man guitars and basses are used and endorsed by some of the greatest musicians in the world (John Petrucci, Steve Lukather, Albert Lee, Steve Morse, Tony Levin, Dave LaRue, John Fogerty and many others).
