Workshops

David is now offering workshops to help groups of musicians to develop their musical skills. These workshops are ideal for groups of high-school students, groups of high-school music teachers, church groups and other associations.

Workshops can be customised to your needs. High-schools may like to supplement their curriculum by selecting topics that are not normally a part of the standard curriculum. The following are some suggested topics:

  • Getting started with improvising.
  • Forming a band and playing in a band.
  • Learning how to play in an ensemble.
  • Transcribing music from audio.
  • Introduction to using Sibelius music notation software.
  • Introduction to MIDI sequencing.

The ideal size of a workshop is 8 to 12 participants, though some workshops may be suitable for up to 16 or so participants.

All workshops include written reference material for participants.

Depending on the workshop topic, participants may need to provide their own musical instrument. For Sibelius workshops, you will need to organise a PC and Sibelius licence for each participant. MIDI sequencing workshops require a PC and sequencing software (ideally a Cakewalk product or similar) for each participant.

Pricing

A two-hour workshop costs $440 (including GST). This price applies to workshops held in the Melbourne metropolitan area and includes printed resources where applicable.
