What happens next?
Unless you tell us otherwise, we will treat your “order” as a request for quotation:
- We will provide you with a quote (usually within 2 business days), and ask if you want us to proceed.
- We will then wait for you to say “Yes”, “No”, or to revise your requirement.
- If you wish to proceed, we will require payment in advance (or a deposit for very large jobs). Work will commence after we receive payment.
- When the work is complete, we will send it to you.
- If any corrections or revisions are needed, we will do these for you without further cost to you.
Here are some things to consider when preparing electronic or hard-copy files:
Audio files
- Audio files should be in MP3, WAV, or WMA formats, or on a standard CD.
- For transcription, we prefer stereo files rather than mono. If you are preparing an MP3 file, be careful not to select a mono sub-format.
- If you convert the music to MP3 format, please select high-quality-large-file over low-quality-small-file, especially for transcription work.
- If you want us to transcribe your recordings, in addition to the final mix, consider giving us separate, isolated tracks for each instrument you want transcribed. (Make sure the tracks are clearly labelled.)
Video files
- The MP4 and MOV formats work best with our transcription tools, but we can also accept other formats that can be easily converted (other MPEG variants, FLV, AVI ).
- If you want to provide a video of the performer, send the video on DVD via mail, or send a link to a site where we can download it.
- If you want us to transcribe from video, also consider sending us an audio file of the same performance.
Music Scores
- Hand-written scores for copying and engraving should be reasonably legible.
- If scanning your music, use a “high quality” or “high resolution” setting. A minimum of 300dpi is preferable.
- Scans should be provided as PDF or JPG files.
