Arranging

Audio Graffiti can provide you with arrangements for a wide range of projects. Perhaps you have written a song and need some help realising that idea as a fleshed-out arrangement. We may be able to help you!

We can also help you with electronic arranging: we can use loops and samples to build an arrangement for you.

How does this work?

To start the process, we need a manuscript containing your music, or a recording of it, or both. We also need your general direction as to the type of arrangement you’re looking for.

For example, do you need just a few instruments to complete an arrangement you have already commenced work on, like some strings to sweeten a ballad? Or maybe you want an entire arrangement, such as a reworking of your song into rock piece, or giving it full orchestral backing.

We will then use the material you provide to create an arrangement. We will send you the arrangement in printable form to review, along with a quick (draft quality) rendering of the arrangement.

Samples

Imagine (PDF, 114 kb)
This is an adaption of Imagine by John Lennon arranged for solo guitar. The arrangement is inspired heavily by Tommy Emmanuel’s stunning version of the song.

Caribbean Talk Show (PDF, 141 kb)
This piece is arranged for brass and rhythm section. It began its life as a kind of fan-fare for a special event. One of the musicians commented that it sounded like a theme for a talk show, so it has been named accordingly.

Joy to the World (PDF, 154 kb)
This is an arrangement of a popular Christmas Carol, and is based loosely on an arrangement prepared for a local Carols by Candle Light event.

Pricing

The cost of an arrangement depends on the number of instruments required and the length of a piece. Our rates are based roughly on the following:

Number of lines Price per vertical bar/measure or part thereof
1 – 6 $5.00
7 – 12 $8.50
13 – 18 $12.50
19 – 24 $16.00
25 – 30 $20.00

Note that chord symbols and lyrics may each count as a line, so a piano-vocal arrangement may comprise 5 lines. Guitar with tablature would count as two lines.

Electronic arranging (using samples and loops) is estimated on the basis of $60 AUD per hour with a minimum of 3 hours.

(Australian residents, please allow for the addition of GST.)

How to order

Before your order, we recommend that you contact us first to discuss your requirements and timelines. We can usually provide you with a quote at this time based on the genre of music and number of instruments you require.Ordering is as simple as sending us a basic manuscript and/or a basic recording of the song. We will provide you with a quote for the cost of the job.

We will begin work on your arrangement when you accept the quote and formally place your order by paying the appropriate fee. When the work is complete, we will then send you a first draft for you to check. You will have the opportunity to make corrections or comment on the arrangement. If anything isn’t quite right, we’ll make the necessary corrections and send you a new draft.

For traditional arranging, you will receive:

  • A PDF file (or files) containing the arrangement.
  • An MP3 providing a “draft-quality” rendering of the arrangement.

For electronic arranging, we will send you a CD containing:

  • A rough mix of the arrangement.
  • Individual tracks for inclusion in your (our your producer’s) audio project ready for additional recording, final mixing and mastering.
